Higher Heights

Higher Heights is an independent Mendocino County breeding and cultivation project built on decades of growing, collecting, preserving, and working cannabis genetics.

Founded by longtime cultivator and breeder Nate, the roots of Higher Heights stretch back to the 1990s, from early guerrilla grows on the East Coast to decades of cultivation and genetic work in the mountains of Northern California. Along the way, Nate developed a deep collection of genetics and a breeding philosophy centered on what makes a plant truly memorable, not simply what looks good in a bag.

At Higher Heights, flavor, terpene expression, effect, vigor, and genetic diversity come first.

That philosophy has become increasingly important as modern cannabis breeding has pushed much of the market toward a narrower range of genetics selected heavily for appearance and commercial traits. Higher Heights has continued in a different direction, maintaining older and more unusual genetics while searching large populations for exceptional expressions worth carrying forward.

Phenotype selection is at the heart of the program. Rather than simply making crosses, Nate has spent years growing, observing, selecting, and learning how different genetic combinations express themselves. That work has created a library of unique breeding material rooted in both legacy genetics and carefully selected modern lines.

Higher Heights has also quietly played a role in the broader Mendocino breeding community, sharing genetics and collaborating with other cultivators while continuing to develop its own distinct lines.

For Tangled Roots, Higher Heights represents exactly what we look for in a breeding partner: history, real world cultivation experience, thoughtful selection, genetic diversity, and a breeder who still believes the experience of the plant matters.

We're excited to help bring more of the Higher Heights genetic library out of the mountains of Mendocino and into the hands of growers around the world.
